Recognizing our President Emeritus Dr. Raymond Jess
Greenwood Gun Club recognizes Dr. Raymond Jess as a unique and important part of the visionary leader group responsible for the club organization. He played an important role in creating the organization and great facility that our shooters enjoy.
A few reasons we are happy to name Dr. Raymond our President Emeritus.
- A graduate of the United States Military Academy.
- Served in the US Army as an artillery commander.
- Became a competitive shooter and competed as a member of the US Army competition shooting team.
- Qualified as an alternate for the USA Olympics rifle team in 1960.
- Left the military and attended medical training becoming a medical physician prior to establishing a medical practice in Lake Jackson, Texas.
- Joined the Greenwood Gun Club 1971 and served as club president 1993-2020 serving total 27 years.
- Competitive shooter reaching the status of Distinguished Rifleman, the highest competitive level.
- Received the Elihu Root medal, presented by Texas Governor White, recognizing members of the National Shooting Team.
